Yes, but only in limited access for now. X has already put chat.x.com online as a browser entry point for XChat. The interface is minimalist, separate from the main X app, and can even be installed as a PWA for a more app-like desktop experience.

That said, chat.x.com is not open to everyone yet. Internal testers and some X Premium subscribers appear to have access, but there is no confirmed date for a general rollout. If the site fails to load or redirects you away, that probably just means your account has not been enabled.

Strategically, the web version matters a lot. It is the clearest route for XChat to reach desktop users, Android users, and iPhone users who cannot upgrade to iOS 26. In other words, it is one of the main ways X can get around the iOS 26 gate.
