XChat Android Release

X Corp. has not announced a release date for Android. For now, XChat is launching inside the iOS ecosystem first, so Android users are still waiting.

One caveat matters here: if you search Google Play today, you may already find an app called XChat. That is not X Corp.'s XChat. It is a separate open-source project built on the Nostr protocol that happens to share the same name. Until the official Android version arrives, do not assume the Play Store result is the real one.

Historically, messaging apps like Messenger and WhatsApp have tended to launch on iOS and Android at roughly the same time. XChat going iOS-first probably reflects strategic choices such as a more controlled test environment and a potentially higher-value early user base. Android will likely follow weeks or months later, but there is no official timeline yet.
