Report Encrypted Messages
This is an interesting technical paradox. If the platform cannot read end-to-end encrypted messages by default, how can reporting work at all?
The usual answer is user-triggered disclosure. When you report a message, your device selectively decrypts the specific reported content and sends it to X's moderation systems. That preserves the default end-to-end protection for ordinary conversations while still giving users a way to report harassment or abusive content. The reported material leaves the encrypted bubble only because you explicitly choose to submit it, not because the platform is continuously scanning messages.
This is a fairly standard compromise across the industry, and similar logic appears in products like WhatsApp and Signal. For normal users, it does not eliminate privacy. For abusive users, it still leaves a workable reporting channel. The exact interface and review workflow will need hands-on confirmation after launch.
